Frozen Bird Found in Siberia is 46,000 Years Old

Posted by in categories: biotech/medical, evolution, genetics

Scientists have recovered DNA from a well-preserved horned lark found in Siberian permafrost. The results can contribute to explaining the evolution of sub species, as well as how the mammoth steppe transformed into tundra, forest and steppe biomes at the end of the last Ice Age.

In 2018, a well-preserved frozen bird was found in the ground in the Belaya Gora area of north-eastern Siberia. Researchers at the Centre for Palaeogenetics, a new research center at Stockholm University and the Swedish Museum of Natural History, haves studied the bird and the results are now published in the scientific journal Communications Biology. The analyses reveals that the bird is a 46,000-year-old female horned lark.

“Not only can we identify the bird as a horned lark. The genetic analysis also suggests that the bird belonged to a population that was a joint ancestor of two sub species of horned lark living today, one in Siberia, and one in the steppe in Mongolia. This helps us understand how the diversity of sub species evolves,” says Nicolas Dussex, researcher at the Department of Zoology at Stockholm University.

YuJet Surfer 24 mph electric surfboard with jet propulsion begins US sales

Posted by in category: futurism

My list of “Things I didn’t know I needed” just grew by one, as Florida-based YuJet unveiled its new YuJet Surfer electric surfboard this morning. The powerful electric watersports board uses jet propulsion to rocket surfers up to speed.

The YuJet Surfer is a carbon fiber fully electric surfboard with a water jet drive similar to a jet-ski, yet without the gas and maintenance required by conventional jet skis.

That means you can get the surfing experience even without waves, such as on ponds, lakes, and rivers.

We take a deep and necessary dive into the topics of robotics, transhumanism, singularity, and other apocalyptic tech – all to prepare for the endgame moves of the elite and their Breakaway Civilization. To win this game of digital thrones, we must tap into the myth and Gnosis of an ancient trickster egregore named Prometheus. We must steal fire from the gods before they burn civilization down very soon.

Periodic Table Of The Elements Turns 150

Posted by in category: chemistry

Maybe you’ve felt a certain chemistry with 2019 but don’t know why? Maybe it’s because this year marks the 150th anniversary of the Periodic Table of the Elements. It’s considered the founding document of modern chemistry, one you may have studied in school.

UW-Madison professor of chemistry Bassam Shakhashiri knows both the history of the table, and its modern relevance. He says the table came about through a collaboration of a few scientists but that Dmitri Mendeleev properly gets much of the credit.

“Dimitri Mendeleev, the Russian chemist, he proposed — sometimes people say he discovered — the pattern of similar behavior [of certain elements] and arranged them,” Shakhashiri explains.
