Michael Levin: What is Synthbiosis? Diverse Intelligence Beyond AI & The Space of Possible Minds
Posted by Dan Breeden in categories: bioengineering, biotech/medical, cyborgs, education, ethics, genetics, information science, robotics/AI
Michael Levin is a Distinguished Professor in the Biology department at Tufts University and associate faculty at the Wyss Institute for Bioinspired Engineering at Harvard University. @drmichaellevin holds the Vannevar Bush endowed Chair and serves as director of the Allen Discovery Center at Tufts and the Tufts Center for Regenerative and Developmental Biology. Prior to college, Michael Levin worked as a software engineer and independent contractor in the field of scientific computing. He attended Tufts University, interested in artificial intelligence and unconventional computation. To explore the algorithms by which the biological world implemented complex adaptive behavior, he got dual B.S. degrees, in CS and in Biology and then received a PhD from Harvard University. He did post-doctoral training at Harvard Medical School, where he began to uncover a new bioelectric language by which cells coordinate their activity during embryogenesis. His independent laboratory develops new molecular-genetic and conceptual tools to probe large-scale information processing in regeneration, embryogenesis, and cancer suppression.

Learning With Sean The Science Kid

This little boy is really smart. I’m like in my 50’s this kid is barely 10, but much smarter than I am. Share and show him support. We need to have incentives for kids to thrive educationally. Props to the kids parents, they really raised an inspirational talent.
Sean is an aspiring brain and heart surgeon and he has created a name for it. He wants to be a “Neurocardio surgeon”. A word he created from Neurologist and Cardiologist. He is a STEM Educator Education Promotor/Advocate. He loves to learn and teach and wants to make the learning of science fun for all. Sean wants to create the awareness that science is not complex and can be seen in everything we do and in our everyday life. Sean is an advocate for positivity and shares motivation everywhere he goes. Sean is managed by his mom.
1 Timothy 6:16 is one of the foundational verses for conditionalists. In it, we see a theological principle that we are not ready to relinquish in favour of popular teachings. It is the principle that God is the only being in the universe who has immortality; only God has Immortality His immortality is exclusive. In that respect, he is different from all other beings.
“The only One who has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; no one has seen or can see Him, to Him be honour and eternal might. Amen” (HCSB).
The verse is the second part of a doxology: a pause to praise the God of whom the author is writing. In its context, Paul is encouraging Timothy to keep pursuing eternal life to which he was called, but has not yet attained. It is a promise from the only one capable of making that promise: God, who alone possesses that thing that Paul urges Timothy to pursue.
