Google and Twitter ads are promoting sites containing a cryptocurrency drainer named ‘MS Drainer’ that has already stolen $59 million from 63,210 victims over the past nine months.

According to blockchain threat analysts at ScamSniffer, they discovered over ten thousand phishing websites using the drainer from March 2023 to today, with spikes in the activity observed in May, June, and November.

A drainer is a malicious smart contract or, in this case, a complete phishing suite designed to drain funds from a user’s cryptocurrency wallet without their consent.

Computers used to mine Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies’ require enormous amounts of energy and cooling that’s evaporating water supplies.

The North Korean-backed BlueNorOff threat group targets Apple customers with new macOS malware tracked as ObjCShellz that can open remote shells on compromised devices.

BlueNorOff is a financially motivated hacking group known for attacking cryptocurrency exchanges and financial organizations such as venture capital firms and banks worldwide.

The malicious payload observed by Jamf malware analysts (labeled ProcessRequest) communicates with the swissborg[.]blog, an attacker-controlled domain registered on May 31 and hosted at 104.168.214[.]151 (an IP address part of BlueNorOff infrastructure).

One of those users might have a post marketing a private and powerful large language model (LLM). You’ll connect with them on an encrypted messaging service like Telegram where they’ll ask you for a few hundred dollars in cryptocurrency in exchange for the LLM.

Once you have access to it, though, you’ll be able to use it for all the things that ChatGPT or Google’s Bard prohibits you from doing: have conversations about any illicit or ethically dubious topic under the sun, learn how to cook meth or create pipe bombs, or even use it to fuel a cybercriminal enterprise by way of phishing schemes.
