“The grid needs new electricity sources to support AI technologies that are powering major scientific advances, improving services for businesses and customers, and driving national competitiveness and economic growth,” Google Senior Director for Energy and Climate Michael Terrell, said in a statement.

“This agreement helps accelerate a new technology to meet energy needs cleanly and reliably, and unlock the full potential of AI for everyone,” Terrell added.

In short, the more reactors, the more waste and the more likelihood there will be a waste transport accident. That’s of course, assuming that suitable waste repositories are developed and put into service. The article was written in 1977, notice, when terrorism and war were nt so clearly part of the risk landscape of nuclear electricity. Now, we have Zaporizhzhia in the middle of a war and we have threats of attacks on nuclear facilities in Iran.

But Google wants profits for its stockholders.
Google wants to give them radioactive assets, it seems.
