  1. This was what ended up killing David Vetter. In case anyone doesn’t know, David Vetter was a Texan boy who famously was immured in sterile plastic bubbles (and thus was also known by the moniker “Bubble boy” and “boy in the plastic bubble”) due to Severe Combined Immunodeficiency, which robbed him of the ability to develop an immune system. When Vetter was 12 years old, he had a bone marrow transplant done in the hopes that he’d develop an immune system and be able to be freed from his inflatable plastic prison, but the transplant failed, and David fell ill and died.
