Zeus Guevara, MSc
Zeus
Guevara, MSc is Ph.D. Candidate in Sustainable Energy Systems at
the MIT
Portugal Program.
Zeus was born into a small family in an enormous city and raised by
non-conventional women, who avoided antiquated paradigms of Mexican
culture and promoted imagination. Since childhood he has been an admirer
of world cultures, which developed in him a strong sense of collectivity
and respect for humanity and nature.
He wanted to be an
ethnographer,
but decided to study engineering as a mean to provide economic support
to his family. Later he worked for two companies in the energy sector.
He became engaged with renewable energy, which led him to pursue a
Master’s degree abroad. His Dutch experience was both tough and
enlightening and served to shift his professional plans.
Currently, Zeus
is passionate about poverty eradication. His Ph.D. research at the MIT
Portugal program represents a first phase of a lifetime project which
aims to help improve living conditions of indigenous communities.
Admission to Singularity University made him realize that he could have
a wider impact than he envisaged.
Zeus earned his BSc in Mechanical Engineering at the Universidad
Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in 2005. He earned his MSc in Sustainable
Energy Technology at Technische Universiteit Eindhoven in 2010.
He studied Sustainable Energy Technology at Technische Universiteit
Delft from 2009 to 2010. He graduated Singularity University in
2012.
He is currently
completing his Ph.D. in
Sustainable Energy Systems at MIT Portugal Program — University of
Lisbon.
