Dr. Rachel Aileen StClair
Rachel Aileen StClair, Ph.D. is the CEO and Founder of Simuli. Her passion and goal is to help build beneficial AGI.
Rachel has been studying artificial intelligence research since 2017. Her work has been focused on computer vision, natural language processing, generative adversarial networks, reinforcement learning, complex systems, and agent-based modeling.
Rachel continues to be an active scientific member of the AI community by publishing and collaborating in the field. Read Predicting Binding from Screening Assays with Transformer Network Embeddings and Using Conditional Generative Adversarial Networks To Reduce The Effects Of Latency In Robotic Telesurgery.
Rachel cofounded Simuli in August 2021 with our Ben Goertzel. Her current work is focused on understanding the neural basis of consciousness and its relationship to learning and on semiconductor solutions for artificial general intelligence and hyperscale computing with her new company.
She researches artificial general intelligence, focusing on complex systems, neuromorphic learning algorithms, and on emergent cognitive phenomena in simulated computational environments. Her main goal is to work on architectures that produce generally intelligent agents.
Simuli’s goal is to make scalable computing a reality by creating cheaper and more energy efficient hardware. Simuli’s flagship processor, the NDPU does exactly that. The processor allows for innovation in blockchain technology, cloud services, and artificial intelligence all while being able to process more information, reducing costs, and reducing power consumption.
Rachel was a Postdoctoral Researcher and Fellow of the Center for Future Mind at Florida Atlantic University between 2021 and 2023. She was a Machine Intelligence Fellow, Brain Institute Fellow (GNTP), and MPCR Lab Manager between 2017 and 2022.
She conducted Quantum Computing Research at ThotAI from 2021 to 2022 and worked as a STEM Intern at DHS in 2019. Between 2016 and 2017, Rachel was a Research Laboratory Technician in the Biomedical Sciences Department at the Florida Atlantic University.
Rachel earned her Ph.D. in Complex Systems and Brain Sciences at the Center for Complex Systems and Brain Sciences and the Graduate Neuroscience Training program at Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, Florida Atlantic University in 2022. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Biological Sciences at the same university in 2017.
