After immigrating to the U.S. as a refugee, she became passionate about social and economic justice. Subsequently, she pioneered the Fairtrade movement in San Diego and cofounded San Diego Friends of Fair Trade, a 501(c)3 non-profit to promote Fairtrade in San Diego. She is founder of Bridge to Bohemia, the first and only fashion retailer to exclusively showcase designs inspired by cultural heritage.

She studied Development Economics at UCLA and found her lucrative passion at UCSD as a Web Developer. After thinking deeply about global issues and the place for consumption based economic-development, she could not shake one question: “HOW will the economic transition take place?” She became interested in the effect of emerging and disruptive technologies in the global economy and shifted focus to developing a predictive analytics model to forecast the future career landscape based on emerging technologies. Transition Analytics is that project.

Mia is currently studying data science and is set to earn her M.S. in Computer Science.

She is passionate about influencing global cultural memes and economic policy and infusing her entrepreneurial endeavors with “big picture” ideas. She is a 2014 Startup Leadership Program Fellow and a Young Scholar with the Institute for New Economic Thinking.
