Dr. John W. Moravec
John W.
Moravec, Ph.D. is a faculty member in the Department of
Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development and the Innovation
Studies/Master of Liberal Studies graduate programs at the University of
Minnesota. He is the principal of Education Futures LLC; a cofounder of
the Horizon Forum, a roundtable on the future of education at all
levels; and is the editor of
Education Futures.
John is concerned about human capital development as society
approaches an increasingly complex and ambiguous future. Technological
change drives social change, and its impact is accelerating
exponentially. Our schools, universities, and other institutions must
leapfrog ahead of this curve for all people to compete in highly
globalized, knowledge- and innovation-based societies. His work focuses
on exploring this “New Paradigm” and the new approaches to leadership
and
human capital development required. His approach is global in scope, and
he actively collaborates with colleagues in the United States, Latin
America, China, and Europe.
He is the author and coauthor of several articles, including “A New
Paradigm of knowledge production in higher education” in
On the Horizon
(2008). His research and action scholarship agenda are focused on the
convergence of globalization, knowledge society, and accelerating change
in education; and building positive futures for “PreK-21” education.
John earned a Ph.D. in comparative and international development
education from the University of Minnesota, a master’s degree in
international management from the University of St. Thomas, and a
bachelor’s degree in international studies from American University in
Washington, D.C.
