Fakhr Alam

Fakhr-e-Alam is a Pakistani national award-winning film actor, TV host, VJ, and singer, popular for introducing the bhangra-rap fusion genre of music in Pakistan. He is considered the first mainstream rap/hip hop artist of Pakistan. He was the first-ever rap artist in 1993 when he launched the unusual single Bhangra Rap. Those were early years of video music in Pakistan and he was one of the first few to be broadcasted on MTV Asia.

Fakhr-e-Alam is also the recipient of the Highest civilian presidential Medal of Honor (sitar e Eesaar) for his volunteer services in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake of 2005. His humanitarian services are also recognized globally. He continues activism for just causes and is known for fearless positions on issues that confront Pakistan.

Fakhr is also known as the king of PSL as he brings a lot of energy to Pakistan Super League through his hosting skills.

In 2018, he became the first Pakistani in the history of the world to have successfully completed a global circumnavigation flying a single engine airplane in 23 days. This journey was titled Mission a Parwaaz and on its first year anniversary a book was also released with the same title.

In 2017, Fakhr became the first Pakistani tech start up founder to deliver a talk at the Google Head quarters in Mountain View California.

After the success of Music Channel Charts, Fakhr got an offer for the Pepsi Top of the Pops and continued on to hosting more then 5000 various episodes of different TV shows.

Fakhr’s debut big screen film won him the BEST ACTOR National award. The highest award of the country for films.

Fakhr was born in 1976 in Lahore and spent his early childhood in Islamabad, before moving back to Islamabad. He did a lot of traveling right from the beginning as his father worked in the Foreign Service of Pakistan.

Fakhr started his schooling in Islamabad, and then went to school in the USA. After a few years of U.S. exposure and education, he returned to Islamabad to finish his education where he also attended the Government College University (Lahore). Afterward, he moved to Karachi and for the last 15 years has lived in Dubai, UAE as an overseas Pakistani since 2004.

In 2014, Fakhr hosted a new show called Aghaz-e-Safar. The show was produced and directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Pakistan’s only two time Oscar winner. The show was based on real-life stories of Pakistanis throughout Pakistan. This is the first time ever that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has produced something for a Pakistani TV channel.

In 2016, after the murder of the popular qawwal Amjad Sabri in Karachi, he led a movement to call for better security for artists and all other citizens by the government and in protest resigned from his chairmanship of the censor board.

Fakhr is an aviation, technology, and science buff and continues to fund startups and ideas as an angel investor.
