Elena
G. Pasyukova, Ph.D., DSc is Head of the Laboratory of Genome Variation
at
the Institute of Molecular Genetics, Russian Academy of Sciences.
Elena was born in Moscow, Russia in 1954. Her research interests
comprise genetics of aging and longevity, genetics of quantitative
traits, molecular polymorphism in natural populations, and regulation of
gene expression. She earned her MSc Degree in genetics from Moscow State
University in 1977, and her Ph.D. and DSc degrees in genetics from
Institute of Molecular Genetics, Moscow in 1986 and 1999,
respectively.
Since 1979, she has had a permanent position in the Institute of
Molecular
Genetics of Russian Academy of Sciences. Since 2006, she has been giving
a course of lectures in Population Genetics at the Department of
Genetics of the
Biological Faculty of Moscow State University.
During 1991–2005, Elena worked as a Visiting Scientist in the Laboratory
of Biology, Genetics, and Biometry URA243, University Lyon 1, France; at
the Department of Biochemistry, Imperial College of Science, Technology
and
Medicine, London, U.K.; and at the Department of Genetics, North
Carolina
State University, USA.
In 2002, Elena was given the
State Award of Russian Federation in Science and
Technology.
