Ben Smith
Ben Smith is an Independent Lunar Settlement Scientist and the Founder of Lunar Homestead, researching the Frontier-Enabling Technology and Techniques needed for sustainable small-scale Lunar settlements.
He has been an active member of The Moon Society since 2018, of which he was Membership Coordinator from 2018 to 2021, and has served on their Board of Directors between 2019 and 2021 and as the Treasurer between 2021 and 2023. He was also a co-coordinator of the 2020 and 2023 Lunar Development Conferences.
Lunar Homestead was founded by Ben in 2018. Ben has been passionate about space exploration as far back as he can remember. He has thought a lot about humans not going past the Low Earth Orbit since Apollo 17 and came up with the idea of founding a company that would work towards the goal of having multiple permanent Homesteads on the Moon. Ben earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2005.
